Hey all,
Getting lots of questions about hair transplant options here in the USA and Canada, so I thought I’d share some thoughts from the expert side.
Unlike some overseas clinics where cost is the biggest draw, the North American scene has its own pros and cons:
- Prices are higher, but so are regulations, hygiene, and usually surgeon credentials.
- FUE is the dominant technique here, with many clinics offering robotic assistance (ARTAS etc).
- Wait times might be longer due to higher demand and limited surgeons.
- Follow-up and aftercare tend to be more accessible.
Top cities like NYC, Toronto, Miami, and Vancouver have reputable clinics but expect prices in the $8k+ range for decent sessions.
If budget allows and you value quality and aftercare, local clinics can be worth it. Otherwise, medical tourism might still be tempting.
What’s your experience? Anyone done a transplant locally recently? How does it compare to going overseas?
Open to hearing pros and cons from the community here :)

Hey michael_89,
Thanks for this overview! I’m in Toronto and have been researching local options too. It’s true prices are steep here, but the peace of mind with seeing the surgeon in person and easy follow-ups is huge.
I looked at some ARTAS clinics nearby and was impressed by the tech, though some reviews say results vary a lot by surgeon skill even with robots.
For me, avoiding travel post-op during winter was a big plus ;) So far leaning towards staying local despite cost.
Would love to hear more about your top picks in the region or any patient stories you know of. Cheers!
